Most Hindus light the lamp in front of god, while some others light in the morning and at the dusk and while few of them keep it burning all the time known as Akhanda Jyoti or Akhanda Deepa. Yet few people tend to argue over the comparison on diya and electric lights. However, they fail to understand the spiritual prominence of lighting Divas. It is believed that God first appears in the form of light which is known as ‘Divine light’. By lighting lamp we destroy our intellect enemies like anger, lust, jealousy and greediness.
